Friday, March 22: Tlakatiliztli

Film screening &

Fundraiser for Indigenous Cultural Education

Friday, March 22, 7-9pm
at
Salon de la Plaza
1866 E. First St.
Los Angeles, CA 90033
(Boyle Heights)

"Tlakatiliztli" is a grassroots documentary that chronicles the experience of 24 wombyn in the 'hoods of Los Angeles in a time where natural/home birth is often considered a luxury. The spirituality around birth that exists in cultures all around the world has been lost in urban areas today. As indigenous wombyn we will reclaim the vision around birth that the media and cinema have made a mockery of. This documentary is an effort to heal our native communities by opening up a dialogue about love, sex, birth, moontime, motherhood and sisterhood today.

Tlakatiliztli has premiered in over 10 cities including, Los Angeles, San Jose, CA., San Antonio, Austin, TX, Oaxaca, MX, and Canada and we're honored to have been recognized in two film festivals.

Tlakatiliztli was filmed and edited by
Dee Lopez Angulo
Casondra Mojica-Ramirez
Yasmin Pineda
